I kept it very basic.
Entering unique names for all animals, a picture, their gender.
I have a database available, but you could also use simple textfiles.

You could also probably use Personal Ancestral File (PAF) software. It is downloadable free.
Also, you can use the PAF Charting Companion software to insert photos (Wouldn't that be fancy!

), color-code your charts, and create PDFs that can be emailed or posted online. PAF Charting Companion is free to use for printing up to 3 generations of records, or $6.75 for unlimited generations.

Intended for 'people' genealogy, but, hey--we can adapt it for the chicken world!
