My beloved red star was a rescue so not sure how old or history. She had been laying once a day. Then after falling ill and not laying for a week we did find indeed she was egg bound. Egg is out unbroken. She has now not walked for 2 days. She is otherwise spritely will eat and drink if I give it to her she is pooping fine. She is now also on a calcium supplement and only gets layer pellets and kitchen scraps. Is she just sore? I cannot see or feel a prolapse. Is it just time? I love her so much and just want her back to her sassy self. Thank you.

I haven't experienced egg binding, but apparently it can cause a temporary paralysis from the egg pressing against a nerve. I would make sure that she is eating and drinking well, and can reach her food. I would start a poultry vitamin in her water or give some Poultry Cell or NutriDrench 2-3 ml daily. A dog crate with food and water may be a good temporary fix. I hope she gets better.

Thank you I have just bought a supplement that I just put it in her water placing both her food and water bowl nice and close. Appreciate the advice hopefully she walks soon her comb and tail are both up so that is encouraging

You may also want to Google "chicken slings and chairs" to see pictures of homemade ones that help to get them upright and out of their droppings, and where they can reach food and water placed in front of them. I would take them out often and let them sleep lying down at night. Most slings have 3 holes for both legs and for the droppings to pass through. Some chickens will try to escape or not tolerate them. Let us know how she gets along.

Update on my love. She is walking on her own today. Rests now and then but on the mend yay ♡♡♡♡ poor girl lost a lot of weight. More reason to mollycoddle her. Must have been that nerve that has come good as the swelling goes down. Thank you all for your advice ♡♡

Glad she is doing better! :) Sorry I didn't see this post earlier!
