Chicken coop build 8’ x 20’

And for anyone wondering about cost, we should have everything completed for $2000. That includes all the building materials, metal roof, HDPE floor and 12" interior walls in coop and nest boxes, 1/2" PVC coated hardware cloth, paint, hinges, and the foundation. I don't believe that includes the fascia since that isn't bought yet.

He said he didn’t care about the paint color so I picked a color a bit lighter than our house color. Now he’s telling me it’s too light.
So he didn't care until he cared... :)

When it came time to pick out our coop color, hubby just leaned back and pretended to take a nap until I chose a swatch. He knew he had no say in it lol.

Got the rafters done. Should have the purlins done tomorrow.

Today, we should be able to get the blocks up between the rafters in the run. Depending on time, we might install the fascia.

Goal for this week, is to get all the wood cut and installed on the coop and then paint. There’s still a lot to do. We have to trim and plywood the tops/rafters of the exterior walls and install the floor joists. We’ll use a sprayer for paint so at least that should go quickly.

Can someone help me with the ventilation math? I want to make sure we have enough.

We are using a ventilated ridge. Coop ridge length is 6' and the ventilation gap is 6". So I get 432" of ventilation or 3 square feet of ventilation.

Rafter eaves: 5" X 6' taking out 3 inches for the 2 interior rafters, which is 345". Is that 2.4 square feet plus the other side?

2.4 + 2.4 + 3 = 7.8 square feet of ventilation. Looks like I need more ventilation. I have windows that can be opened in the summer. This is the always open 24/7/365 ventilation.
