Well said! "A craftsman is only as good as his tools" said by my dear grandfather, God rest his sole!

Good shoes are also important tools, so God rest sole... and his soul.

Woops, good eye!

But you can buy good tools at a cheap price(sometimes).

We got a complete set of DeWalt brand cordless tools with extra batteries at a pawn shop cheaper than it would have been to buy just one of the tools and a battery.

Sometimes they are a great resource for tools.

I stand corrected, in a way. You can reduce your tool outlay with a little savvy.

Buying a quality used tool is as good as buying any other one, new. I have purchased many used tools that are still as useful as when new.
I inherited some tools that were my FIL's, which were obviously old when he got them - and I still use them.

They dont deteriorate if they are quality, except in cases of the most extreme abuse.

On the other hand, I've used cheap tools that wouldnt work even once.

I had forgotten about pawnshops. Thanks for the reminder - Im headed over there tomorrow.

Good point Elderoo.
I have some woodworking tools that are 30 or so years old and could not be replaced by what is made today.

The pawnshops around here are overflowing with tools.
Not much work going on for most trades.

Hi Yanna - Before we started construction on our coop, I found a shipping crate for a jacuzzi tub that I wanted to use for a coop. It was 7x3, framed in for strength and had a removable lid. It was free (sitting by a dumpster in an industrial area) and would have taken VERY minimal skills to make it a usable coop. I know that motorcycle dealers get bikes in similar shipping crates, so that might be a good place to check out as well. Of course, all this depends on just how many chickens you are planning on housing, as it wasn't very big, but you get the idea. And BTW, the pawn shop is the FIRST place I'd look for good tools. Never pay retail.
