Chicken coop roof, overhang and construction methods

Well....... another feral chicken arrived on my property and refuses to leave. Me being soft...... well I do feed it. Then this thought occurred. @CapricornFarm would you be possibly interested in crossing your chicken with mine and see if we develop a unique HYBRID. ???? Here is a pix.

I did extensive research into genetics, :caf even read numerous articles on Wikileaks.:lau.... Came up with what I suspect the eggs will look.

@CarolinaSunshineFlock If you just might have a BROODY when I get a dozen of these....... Would you be interested in hatching them out???
Don't have concerns about shipping. I believe they would be hardy enough to take all the speed bumps.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can create a covered roof (like a porch) that extends from the back of the chicken coop and is built around an existing oak tree? The gap around the tree would allow rain to fall through; that's okay for such a small area. But is it best that I don't anchor the covering to the tree to allow for tree movement? It's a pretty large tree. We do get a lot of wind at times. I'm guessing, though, that at just under six feet from the ground the movement is minimal if any.

What is the diameter, or circumference would be easier to measure, of the tree?
It will allow rain and also predators access, not sure if that's a concern?
Pics of situation would help.

Leave ample space for tree movement when you do your framing.
Then put something flexible closer to tree to shed most rain.
Hmmmmm...I bet if you put a heavy duty aluminum foil, maybe several layers thick to achieve stiffness, attached to roof and touching the tree all around....that would 'record' the trees movement. Engineering Study! As the tree moves it would push back the foil which would stay where it was pushed showing the clearance needed. Would have to be left in place long enough to get thru a few strong wind events.

Both great suggestions, thank you! Predators are a big concern, but first I'll get the basics done and then gerry-rig my way to protecting the flock. This won't happen until the spring, but dang, Christmas is already over, so spring is on its way!
