Chicken Coop

A draft is when wind is blowing on them directly. Chickens can handle cold, but a breeze blowing on them is not good. That's why ventilation works best above their heads. Any moisture or ammonia inside the coop must be vented out with no air blowing directly on them. The holes are fine if they are an inch wide or smaller... if they're bigger, then cover with hardware cloth
So do I have to cover the holes with a cloth?

No, not cloth, but hardware cloth (which is metal)

Anything bigger than 1/2" gap (holes, windows, etc) should be covered with hardware cloth or other wire mesh no wider than 1/2".

And estimate roughly 1 sq ft in ventilation per bird, minimum. It might be difficult to achieve in a smaller coop but aim towards that goal.

Would be good to see the inside of coop....and outside all around.
.....and to know.....
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
