Hello all! I’m relatively new to raising chickens and I initially bought 6 “Rhode Island reds” from a shady shop here in San Diego. He said they were a little over a week old when I bought them, and now we’ve had them for 12 weeks, so I’m guessing the big ones are around 13-14 weeks now. The first 6 I got were mixed color, 3 red ones and 3 whiteish ones. Early on, around 8 weeks One of the reds, who was also the biggest bully and would always peck me grew out long green tail feathers. I waited a while and eventually it was clear that the red guy was a rooster. To replace him I got two more babies That are now about 7-8 weeks old. The three whitish ones are larger and all have bigger combs, and they look completely different from the smaller red ones. The new head hen recently started crowing during the day. Can you guys let me know what breed and what sex? The one crowing also beats up my little ones. It was worse before I slowly assimilated them into the coop, but they still get whooped from time to time.
This is the head hen, the one crowing
here are her legs. Bumps are bigger than the rest
waddle and comb shot
this is another one of my white ones, don’t know the breed and this one has larger take feathers than the others, but not the top dog in the coop. This one is also the dumbest, and can never figure out how to get out of the coop.
One of my female reds. This looks for sure like a RIR, right? They were all sold as reds...
My two babies, ones speckled black and the other looks like the big reds.
Thanks for your help and look forward to your replies!
