Chicken Dead No signs of Illness??

Dog vet may be able to test, as things found in stool can show up in different animals.

Given you have got them on Sulmet it is likely best not to mess with changing that. The med level in chick starter is low (theraputic level to slowly build amunity) so it likely won't do anything one way or another as far as the sulmet is concerned. But it is likley good to keep them on the medicated starter until they get close to laying age to help prevent cocci.

Yeah, you should be able to. My small animal vet is closer then the one we use for livestock and she'll do fecal samples from critter on the farm for me--chooks kind of fall in the middle ground anyhow, neither one of mine vets really know much about them.

As far as the Sulmet goes I'd stick with it. You have it handy and she seems to be responding so finish it out. Lots of people use Sulmet and have good results. She might have loose stools a little longer etc. but the Sulmet is not going to burn a hole in her intestine or anything so forget I said anything about it being harsher, everything is relative and in your girl does have cocci quick treatment with a medicine know to work is better then delayed treatment with my personal favorite medicine. It might be a little tougher on her system, but the way things have been going if she does have cocci not treating would likely mean that she wouldn't make it. Just keep spoiling her with stuff like scrambled or chopped boiled eggs. They're high in protien etc., easy to digest and since most chooks love that suff they'll usually eat it even if they don't feel 100%

How's she doing today?

Hi, She is ALL Better!! Sorry I had a ton of chores to do so I wasn't able to get on her till now. I did what you all said with the Sulmet stuff for two days. I then went and bought the last bag of medicated chick starter to follow up on so I know I do not have this happen again. Now I am done to 1 lonely chicken but, better than not having any I guess. I am going to strip the small coop and clean it with amonia I think that is what I read on here is good to clean them with. I will let it air out for a week then rebed it and start over. I will probably wait awhile before I get anymore chickens b/c this poor one left went through alot and I want her all better before I even stress her out with a new flock mate

Thanks Again All of you that helped me through this!!! Have a Blessed Day!!!
