Hi! New to chicks and ducklings, have two of each. We got them from TS, and up until yesterday (2 wks) they’ve been brooding together. I followed all advice I found in here in setting up the brooder. My issue is the ducks have grown WAY faster then the chicks, and they are much more messy! I felt like they were making the chicks life harder (at least wetter)! So I decided maybe I should separate them, but they don’t seem to like it at all. Lots of noise, I have both brooders side by side, and the chicks are up against the wall nearest ducks and the ducks are up against their wall nearest the chicks. It’s almost like their sad. Am I crazy? Do I put them back together? I already cleaned the brooder 3-4 times a day bc of the ducks, I just felt it was always wet no matter what I did and I didn’t want the chicks to chill or be damp.

This is the problem frequently faced when brooding chicks and ducklings together. They have bonded as a 'flock'. Personally I would keep them separated as I feel the benefits outweigh the negatives of doing so.
So I wasn’t wrong in separating them? I feel so guilty! But these little ducklings are so MESSY! How can something so adorable and tiny make such a mess!!
