Hey guys, new to chicken ownership have picked up 3 Hyline hens just about to start laying.I have them in a 5m long 2m wide run plus coop.
Have been feeding them pretty succesfully with a standard tread lever feeder but have also trialled a little compost ring with pretty good success. At the moment I have the feeder inside the coop because weve had serious rain for about a week and they spend most of their time inside.
Was wondering what you guys thought was the best method?
Do I stick with the feeder only and move it outside to a sheltered spot? or the Compost ring? or both?
Appreciate any thoughts

Thanks in advance

Welcome to BYC!! I think the feeder is best inside so the chickens can access it when there’s bad weather.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I've never heard of a compost ring so I can't picture it.
I feed and water my flock out in their predator proof run with a solid roof so their food stays dry. I don't like to keep water in the coop as it is a source of moisture that could promote frostbite in the winter.
