TW? Chicken found dead in the Coop today, We don't know what happend. All our Chickens were Healthy (From what we know of) and I checked them all when they were Roosting Tonight, and they all seemed Fine and had no Illness (Or Injuries, for that matter). Bluey, our 1 year old chicken (June 2024 - May 2025) died today (As Mentioned). She was fine, and as far as we know. She had no Injuries or Illnesses, she looked and acted fine. We thought maybe one of our Dog's killed her, but. They're was no Blood, or Bite marks. Then, we thought it was our Rooster. Because, they're was some feathers off her back plucked off. But, we now don't think so. Because, again. No Blood, Peck marks, or anything that the Rooster could've killed her (And they were both almost the same size, which. I don't think, would mean anything). So, we're guessing she had a heart attack. Because, like i said. There was no Blood, Bite Marks, Feathers in the Yard (From Being Chased), Peck Marks. So, thats our best guess. If, someone can tell me what happend. That would be great (Some Extra Info about her: Blue Andalusian Hen, Her Mother was also a Blue Andalusian. She has crooked toes, but is Healthy and Has no Injuries as far as we know. Like all our chickens, and Her Father was a Plymouth Rock. We No longer have, but. He was Healthy and had no Injuries, as far as we know. Also, and i don't think she would've had any Problems from her Father. As we Butchered him Last Year. Found by the Small Chicken Coop, door. a Little ways from it, laying on the ground)

I'm sorry to hear about your hen.

It would be hard to even guess why she died. To find out more, refrigerate the body and take/send it to your state lab for necropsy, they will give you a report of their findings.

Alternatively, you can do your own informal investigation to see if you find anything obviously wrong with the internals. If you do your own and wish to, post photos and we'll try to help you with what you see.
