Chicken Genetics Blog

Haha, I already know how to steal pictures off the internet, I just feel bad about it, even though I cite my sources.

Ope, yeah  I'd just been following that thread for ages and that was my first thought when you were looking for pictures of gold-based dun.

There is always the option of citing the post as your source, though. I don't think that user logs in very often or I'd say reach out and ask directly. :hmm

Yeah
I just took the rusty black Sumatra picture off of BYC 😅

Here's Dun Birchen. She doesn't have the gold in her neck yet, or if she will get any at all.

I've probably ran 1000 simulations on my head trying to explain how Autosomal Red affects the salmon breast on Wildtype hens and it's simply impossible. Autosomal red is very real, but the lack of it will not make wildtype hens have a Silver breast. Every single female I've seen with Silver breast is a e+/eb or e+/ebc heterozygote. The nomenclature is also not correct as it was submitted. Autosomal red should be represented as Ap+ as it's found on wildtype RJF. Yet Mr. Reeder saw fit to name it Ap and lack of Autosomal Red as ap+

That would explain the d’Uccle mix having it.
Is e^bc really a thing? I thought it was but then I saw the Henk commentary on it that makes me think it’s just partridge.
