I had a similar problem with wolf decorations. My family knows I like wolves, I have some really nice artwork on the wall and 2 tattoos that depict them as well. Being somebody who is generally hard to buy for everyone would default to wolf items....(a wolf clock, pocketknives with ornate designs which are totally impractical to actually use as a knife, blankets, throws, sweaters, shirts, coasters, etc.etc.) I finally told everybody that I think I reached max capacity on my wolf gear and if I got any new stuff I would have to throw away the old. They stopped bombarding me with wolf gear and reverted to giving me stuff with my favorite sports teams on them. Maybe didn't 100% eliminate the unwanted gift issue, but I could once again apprecaite my wolf items without having sensory overload.
