I own 3 silkies (2 hens and a rooster) for show purposes. Because of the disease spreading in California show was called off the entire 2019 season and therefore I decided to take this year to raise more chicks, but with my own fowl. We didn’t know they were going to fertilise and grow so fast but 3 eggs appear to be at day 18-20 via candling and the fourth egg is at about 10 days. My hen is very good about brooding and has not left them for more than 20 minutes a day. I’m going out of town this weekend and I don’t know if I should remove her and the eggs (there are only 2 other adults besides her) and buy a lamp so they are warm while we are gone, or if they will be fine for the weekend. If my obversations are correct, they should hatch any day now and I want to be sure mama and her chicks are safe from my other two and can survive if they hatch without our presence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
