Chicken having trouble breathing! ***EMERGENCY***

try rubbing the lump in her throat. Are you sure its not her crop? if its not maybe you could get it down. If its her crop it could be impacted. Im curious if its a respiratory infection/disease? Im thinking its gapeworm though.

Heres the symtoms of gapeworm that i got from a poultry website:

"Gasping for breath or 'gaping' as it is known is the biggest sign of gape worm. Shaking of the head and neck stretching are common. When birds are held, gurgling or a 'tracheal rattle' can often be heard. This can often be confused with respiratory infection, if in doubt, check for other signs of respiratory disease. If a heavy infestation occurs, death by suffocation will occur'

EDIT: Heres another symtoms thing

"The first sign of gapeworm normally comes when the chickens fail to eat, and cough a lot, and stretch their necks in an effort to get air into their lungs. Additionally a chicken may also have their eyes closed for most of the day"

You can take a q-tip and swap her throat, I believe it comes out red, it's gape worms. If it does, then there should be a forum on what to use. She could have food lodged in her throat also.

UPDATE: Just put vegtable oil in her throat, and tipped her upside down... food came up. She is really struggling so i'm giving her a break. I read I should wait till tomorrow to do it again? She is still strecthing her neck and gaping. She is becoming weak.
