Hi No they don’t go outside at all they haveHello, Maureen, and welcome to BYC. Is there any possibility that her feet are frostbitten?
We are going to extend our covered run and it will not be under a roof for the most part. It is in a low area. Wanted to use pallets to help keep them out of the wet in the rainy season. Do your chickens have any problem with the rough boards?Hi No they don’t go outside at all they have
an area that is caged that I will let them out on
sunny days but it has no exposure to the snow
at all and the ground is raised with pallets covered with cardboard and straw. My girls
are pretty pampered! Lol
Hey there everything appear fine with the crop.Hello Maureen, and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
If you can confirm that her crop is functioning properly (full at night, empty in the morning) I would write off the high stepping gate to discomfort due to the hard molt. I had a hen do that one year.
