Chicken "in your face" pictures!!

awwwww its funny its very rare for a white leghorn to go broody and they are kinda of mean

Yea I did read that leghorns weren't supposed to be broody AT ALL lol, so I don't know what she was doin, maybe just wants a friend lol, she did loose her sissy :( a while back, ever since then though she hangs around Bluefoot, one of our RIR that is the most talkative chicken I've ever heard, she NEVER shuts up & she's so dang curious its funny.

But I haven't heard that leghorns can be mean? thats odd. But yea, the guy we got ours from had them seriously tamed as pullets they were always sitting on his shoulder etc...

It doesnt take long for roosters to start "getting around"...lol....i would wait a few weeks after he does and then collect hatching eggs... and carefull...hatching is EXTREMELY addicting! Luck to ya!

When I first bought her as a pullet with several others, I noticed she was not growing and felt skinny. I noticed too that she was not acting normal and I thought she was brain damaged a bit. She kept pecking at the air and would not see treats or food on the ground. She would also dunk her whole head under the water to drink, or miss the water completely. She has a helpful rooster 'guide chicken' who she follows around with her head in his tail feathers! If they get separated she will make some noise and he comes running back to her - so sweet.

I switched to using a big red deep food pot and water dish. She knows where these are, but if I move then or change them she can not find the food, so I have to make sure they are always in the same place. Her most unusual behaviour is to be out and about after dark walking about as if its daytime when all the other chickens are roosting. I have to make sure I put her away or she would like to stay out all night!

That is so amazing!

I would have been so upset to see my chick acting that way. I had mysteriously sick chick I had to force feed for 2 weeks. It was the most nerve racking thing
She must have a really sweet rooster. My mother has a few and they are the most darling things, and they look ridiculous when they crow

like a 5 year old blowing out birthday candles in one shot.

I didn't even realize her internal clock would be retarded. But it only makes sense, when its dark all the time. Th poor dear must get so nervous when all her friends are gone to sleep.

Im glad you take such good care of her.
