Chicken infested with tiny white worms

I treated them with this yesterday the rest are doing much better.

Wazine won't do anything for maggots. As for internal worms, the only worm Wazine kills is round worms. There are MANY different worms chickens can suffer with.

That's a good start, but like @enola mentioned, it only treats roundworms, so you should consider getting some Safeguard or Valbazen for the other types of worms.

Maggots eat the decaying flesh, then they will eat the 'healthy' flesh. The will not leave the 'host' to go find another source of food.

Any hen that has a dirty vent, needs to be cleaned ASAP!

Of course, I should have been more clear.

While not a chicken, my daughter did a pet rabbit project for 4-H a few years back. We were made aware of the maggots ON THE JUDGING TABLE. She had a teeny skin tear right next to her vulva, but the maggots had created a pocket under the skin. When my daughter placed her on the table, a maggot fell out. Talk about EMBARRASSING!

I have had fly strike on my animals, too. This is a learning experience for you. Fly strike happens on sheep, goats, calves, cats, dogs, even deer. That's the species I have experience with.....

Cat of mine was hit by a car and came back home with a nasty cut and a gazillion maggots.

Help, I found my chicken infested at the vent with tons of quick tiny white worms. I had noticed a few weeks back that my chicken had poopy butt. I checked her vent at that time and it looked nice, pink and healthy. Yesterday, I noticed the poopy butt looked a little worse and she seemed lethargic. When I checked her vent again, she had tons of tiny white worms crawling in and out of her vent. Her vent looked swollen and red. I got cleaned her vent, but unable to get rid of these worms. I got dewormer, and DE.
My biggest concern is I have been eating the eggs. (May have come from other chicken) and can My dog and cat contract these worms. Will my poor little chicken survive?

WARNING GRAPHIC INFORMATION.This sounds like the worms are maggots. I had this problem with my male maltese dog last summer. Scared me half to death bc they were just pouring out of his anal area by the hundreds. So we rushed him to the ER for fear they were killing him. It was from flies that laid eggs on his anal area when he was outside in his playpen and had pooed on himself. This sounds exactly like your chicken's problem.His anus was very red and swollen. I don't know what you would give to a chicken to kill them, but the doctor treated my dog with Capstar which is a flea medication that kills immediately-within a half hour. He was followed up with antibiotics and had bad scabs from the maggots eating on his skin that took several months to completely heal, so we had to keep him in a medical collar to keep him from licking. The medical staff said this is prevalent in a fly infested area like we have every summer here.You probably need to take her to a vet to be treated as birds are so much more sensitive. Good luck and I sure hope she makes it through this ordeal.
