I was inside and watched my chicken run and jump into my pool! Any reasons as to why she would do this? The water is ice cold and I ran outside and lifted her out. I don’t know if this is the first time she has done this.

What breed is she? Ours do anything to avoid water, they are silkie and duccle. I think I heard chickens can drown in pools as they can’t get out

That sound quite hilarious...even though it supposed to be shocking and concern of the bird health.
Bring her inside with a towel and blow dry her.

One of my chickens, fell in my pool and was in there for a long time before I got home and found her, it is summer here but it was raining. When I picked her up she fainted in my arms. Took her to the vet and she had hypothermia, had her under a heat lamp for 3 days. She is fine now, but was very very sick for a day or so after she fell in the pool!

Also, chickens can swim/float very well with no effort at all (like ducks) but they will struggle to get out of the pool therefore will exhaust by trying to get out and will drown by giving up.
