Chicken jumping on my shoulder

If a chicken jumps on me it gets smacked hard and never does it again.

My roo LOVES being on my shoulder..and head!!
I think we are best friends. If I sit down, he’s always the first one to come check me out. And then a few moments go by, and I got the whole flock! Hahaha.

It's ill advised to let cockerels on your shoulder/head. They will start to see you as an equal and in many cases start to challenge you.

And that's a 'cute and friendly' cockerel, not an adult. things may not go well at all in the next weeks/ months.

I am thrilled that one of my new chicks likes to sit on my lap.

That's about as close to my face as I will allow her to get. I wear glasses, and I always wear them when with the chickens.

I'm generally ok with a pullet on the lap.

Me too. I think that the bird needs to be invited up there, never just jump on my body anywhere.
