I cant wait to see an egg!!! The previous "owner" said she was a laying hen and got eggs from her. If he is right (who knows) then it could be anytime. She just has to settle in. When I see an egg I will know she is settling in good.

I have one RIR we call lil blue. (we name them after their band color) She is the smallest of the bunch and if it sit she will perch on my leg. She follows me more but wont put up with cuddling lol

OK!! Today Big Chicken seemed to be making some big steps!! When I went out to throw scraps she ran in with the rest of the flock. Still on the out skirts but even though she ran a bit when I "threw" she did not go far and managed to get a good share. Then I was standing there and she walked kinda close to me. I talked to her and told her she was "all good" lol and she stood there and turned her head this way and that and listend to me. So I just kept talking. She made some chicken sounds I could not decipher. All in all a good day with the ducklings getting their first run of the yard and swim in the pond!!! Then tonight after dark I went out to the coop with my flashlight. Sneaky yes but I went in and slowly walked up to her. I talked to her and petted her. FIRST time I have laid hands on her!! It was nice. I pet her a bit and she seemed nervous but did not move. She was so soft!!! lol. All the time talking her Big Chicken talk. This sat I have to reband birds that are at the 12 week mark. It involves not letting them out of the coop. I go in and grab a chicken. Reband it and let it out. Im going to leave Big Chicken to last. I am going to hold her even if she don't like it. Give her a band of her own. And show her that even if I hold her she will be ok. Fingers crossed all goes well!!!
