Well I feel that you come on here after a horrible experience and told us what happened...if anyone's being distasteful its those who come on YOUR thread and Buck with criticism rather than understanding...even the strongest can crack under pressure...I know how you feel...last year my moms neighbors pitbull desamated my mothers flock of 30 dominicker hens...he didn't compensate her for her losses...so he had to replace his dog!
Nobody should judge you...the dog got off easy....my folks neighbor dog didn't ...if anyone has a problem with that...oh well
I don't have livestock as a lively Hood...I'd love to though...be self sestaining and grow..can..and raise my own food....smart concept of bulls and cows visiting ...real smart...I respect your way of life...IV always been a farm girl...love hard work...I love chickens..they are my favorite...we didn't have poultry til after I was grown.
oh BTW...my chickens scatter when I toss scratch..I think its just something they do..well. keep your chin up you've got more grit than anyone I've ever known.

So I read the whole thread... You didn't know the guy, but you judged him as a bad person and kept what was obviously his property? You've talked awfully bad about him for not knowing a thing about him. Even in a large flock, he knew this chicken. He came to your house and offered you a bag of feed for the trouble you went through, without being asked for any recompense. And yet, you still have his property without reimbursing him.

He did bring pictures and show his setup, and by the sounds of it, the chickens were very overcrowded and in not very good living conditions. IMO, the OP did the right thing. BC would not have been happier in the setup the man had now. Yes, he could be a good person and mean the best, but that doesn't necessarily mean he doing what's best.

You would understand if you had seen him and his pics. However I did not keep his chicken away from him. If he had not been so rude I might have helped. If I had wanted to be dishonest I would have never posted the found chicken advertisement. I could have gone into more detail about his visit and his vulgarity but I chose to only put in the basic facts and keep it more upbeat. I respect your opinion. But not all the facts are laid out here in a public forum.

Thank you Tatertot. But I don't want anyone to think that I felt upset in any way over opinions that were not my own.
That said. I love this way of life!! I had it as a young child but lost it when my Great Grandmom passed away. I spent the rest of my childhood with my abusive, addict mother. Its only been in the last 5 years that things are finally falling into place. Took a long time to get started and money that I dint have lol. Plus I was a single mom.
My flock run AT me like im gonna be mobbed when I come out with scraps lol. They don't care. I have had chickens running around with green beans on cus they get hit with em. No matter how hard I try to not get it on them some do anyway.

Oh wow! Horrible day. Sorry you lost your chicken today. That is always a fear of mine, to have the chickens out and a dog come running though. I don't know how I feel about the chicken tied to the dog though. I know I am very careful not to let my dogs run loose but on a rare occasion they slip past a guest at the door. It happens to people from time to time. What if a child found that dog coming back home? Sorry I know your sad about your chicken but I found that distasteful.

I just want to make sure everyone on this thread especially Chicken Pickin, understands that I was in no way shape or form upset by Chicken Pickin's post. I was very flattered by those who stood up for my actions. Thank you. But it was stated in a respectful way, It was not an attack but simply stated as the OP's feelings on the issue. I can respect that.

WHAT IS WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE REMARKS...THE DUDE TOLD HER TO KEEP THE CHICKEN...

She offered to buy the chicken...you'd know that if you read it completely ...shame on you rude people...next time take a look at yourself and see what crummy rude remarks you make..why are people so rude and disrespectful in today's age..

Don't fault them for being upset. ;-) They for the most part are pretty loyal Big Chicken followers by now. You stated your opinion in a very respectful way and without malice. Much better than other person who recently posted lol. Make sure you are not getting responses to that person mixed up with responses to you.
Anyway. I saw some of the responses you were getting and wanted everyone (especially you) to know that I was not offended. Hope you can continue to enjoy Big Chickens thread!! And feel free to post opinions in the manner you have already done.
