You could imagine how excited we were to see one of our chickens lay their first egg.. but that was three days ago and she has not laid one since.. should we be looking for anything or reason why she isn't laying anymore after her first?

When they first start laying they can be pretty off and on about it. Takes a lot of work to get the rhythm worked out. That said, look around to see if she's found a "better" spot to lay.

We've looked throughout the coop and in their run and nothing.. she's not acting like she was the other day when she laid her first one.. and she's the only one out of 6 that has started to lay.. they are all also only about 4/5 months

The one that has laid her first is a hide island red.. we have one other Rhode Island that isn't as "matured" like she is.. they are all the same age

I just got my first egg from the newest batch of Hens I got this year. Black Sex Link, Approximately 18 weeks. I have six total and they just recently started squatting when you try to pick them up, a promising sign to me that they were about to lay. I'm pretty sure I'll see eggs from the others within the next week or two, but seeing as how big this egg was I have doubts she will lay again for a few days. Patience is key right now.

my rhode island reds lay every day
