My 21 week old Golden Golden Wyandotte chicken was laying on her side today in the dirt. She did get up and fly onto the branch in their run. She is eating and drinking and up to that was acting normal and is acting normal now. No diarrhea. I am really worried about her. I am a brand new mom to chickens and have grown very fond of them. She hasn't started laying yet. Any suggestions?? I hope she is not going to die.

They're simply sunbathing. My brother-in-law saw this happen while one of my chickens just dropped and spread out her wings on the dirt. Scared me half to death but when I went outside she sprung up and ran lol so don't worry about it, she's fine.

She was just laying there but not really moving though is that still normalYep, just takin a sun bath.It's scary the first time you see chickens laying all over the place as if there was a massacre or something!

She was just laying there not really moving making little noise. Is this still normal??
Yes completely normal! They sort of go into a trance like state for a bit. It looks scary but it's all good!
