Chicken Lice Confirmed

I have done lots of research online and have discovered that the tiny bugs crawling on my chickens are lice (not mites).

My question is.... everything I have read says that lice only live on the host. I am planning on doing a coup clean out but do I have to be as rigorous as I would need to be if it were mites?? Would just treating the chickens and replacing all bedding and floor shavings be enough???

No. You must treat with an insecticide as well, especially in any cracks or seams. By insecticide I mean Sevin, bleach, or some other industrial strength cleaner.
