I’ve just discovered tonight that my chicken had lice 🙁 I have two chickens total, I havn’t checked the other one however I plan on treating both regardless.

I’ve looked up other threads on how to treat and what not, however I am located in Canada, which means product availability is unfortunately scarce.. The closest co-op has a product available called Lice-x, which is a bovine product that contains 1% permethrin. Can i use this? If not, does anyone have anything they can suggest?

I’d like to treat the girls asap to avoid further illness!

Thank you!

Unfortunately it seems to be unavailable everywhere..
Can you find any other products with Permethrin?

I'm not familiar with the Lice-X that you mentioned. I'm not sure if you would need to dilute it down a bit more for use on poultry or not.

Do you have a pigeon or falconry supply store? Sometimes you can find Lice treatments for birds in those types of stores which would be easier to use.

The LiceX with 1% permethrin should work, but you need to dilute it for chickens. I think chickens are treated with 0.5% permethrin. Do they sell lice powder or garden dust? Sulfur powder can be effective on lice and mites. I would also call your vet since they might suggest a spot-on type treatment.
