Chicken Lice: What Worked for You?

This is the first time I've dealt with poultry lice. I didn't put DE in my coop a couple times over winter as I ran out and bam! Now everyone has nasty chicken lice! I haven't brought in any new birds for a couple years, all of my younger chickens were hatched here on the farm, so it must have come from wild animals. I've sprayed them with neem oil 5 times and it doesn't seem to be working. They look terrible, with broken feathers and bald patches of skin. I even lost two of my young layers. I can see the lice on them. I've cleaned the coop several times, and gave them a dust bath with 2 parts sand, 2 parts wood ash and 1 part DE. I have 65 chickens, so giving them all a bath isn't really feasible. Who else has dealt with these nasty buggers and what worked for you?

Ivermectin drops applied to the skin on the back of the neck, repeat after 7 days. You'll need to do every bird, twice. That will kill the lice current, and those that hatch from the nits during the week. Dust baths will help to keep them manageable thereafter.

I've used permethrin spray and dust with good success on lice.
You must get it under feathers and onto their skin...
....
around vent and neck, under belly and wings.
2 treatments 7-10 days apart, no egg withdrwal.

Is it true that lice will not live on people?

So I found a spray cheaper than elector psp. It is called manna pro poultry protector. Has any one used this?
Just about anything is cheaper than PSP
I do not believe there is any actual pesticides in the poultry protector.
If you have lice or mites, get some permethrin spray or dust.

Thank you I ordered the elector psp. So when I reapply it will be the psp. Thank you for your help
