I have a 5 month old chicken which is going down very fast. I let my birds out every evening to roam the yard. They all seemed fine, then I noticed this hen was having problems walking. The longer I watched, the worse she got. Her feet are almost rolled up in a ball at times when she's trying to walk. I'm sure she will be dead by morning and was fine this morning. I say that because I've seen a few others go down that fast. So far I've lost 4 to whatever this may be. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

What does the poop look like? Could it be coccidia? Can you take a poo sample to a vet?

Were they vaccinated for marks? What breeds?

I wonder if they could have Mareks disease, a virus that can cause lameness of one or both legs, or paralysis of the wings, or the neck. It can also cause wasting, a decrease in immunity to common diseases, tumors, or blindness. You might start some poultry vitamins on the chance that it could be a vitamin deficiency. Botulism, dehydration, lead or chemical poisoning, or moldy feed could also cause similar neurological symptoms. If you lose another, I would definitely get a necropsy done on a refrigerated body by the state vet. Here are some links about Mareks and a contact for your state vet:

I was reading and I agree with the above post that it could possibly be vitamin deficiency or Marek's disease.
These are some sites/posts that might help. I personally don't know much, so this is just by research.

I really hope she gets better.

There is 26 chickens total. Some have been having the runs, but unsure about this one. The breed is RI Red, but the others was buff orp and barred rock

Looking more like Marek's disease. I guess it's going to take out my flock one by one. I've got another one now that is lame as hell, and just so suddenly. This one has stool tracks that are green. I lost the one I originally posted about. My first flock was healthy and got eaten, and I guess these will all die from whatever this disease is. I've added vitamins to water, don't know what else to do but wait.
