Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. Late in coming, but better then never. :)

One thing that can really help with the expense is to build your coop and run with recycled materials. Check out the coops forum for some good ideas. Members have used pallets, old playhouses, windows and doors from Habitat for Humanity stores, etc.

Just don't skimp on making your coop and run as predator-proof as possible, you might pay more initially for hardware cloth and secure locks but that will pay off in the long run if it means you don't have to replace your chickens.

Hello I'm wondering if someone could please help me identify my bsl chicks... I'm new to this site and raising chickens so I don't know if I'm posting in the right place

From my understanding the females usually hatch with a white dot on the head and the males are all black and some even show signs of barring in the feathers.
