My Silkies arrived today! 26 were sent in the box, and 1 was DOA. I'm a little worried about the others since they seem confused/distraught, but so far they are doing well, as far as I can see they are eating and drinking. I got an error on my shipment confirmation email, so I have about 6 emails in my inbox for different shipping times. Not sure when they went out, but I think they got here fairly quickly. We're in VA so there's not really a close central pickup point for the P.O. I'm very impressed with the fast shipping and the fact that only one of them died even though it was 20˚F here this morning. I'm excited for more specials from Ideal.

I got my replacements today. 5 of the 10 DOA. I feel terrible for them. I really want the rest of my chicks but it is just too cold. I wish there was a heating pad that could be placed in with them.

Mine arrived this morning! Lots of cute colors! Out of 55 chicks, I had 4 DOA and 2 that aren't looking so good. I put the 2 in my incuabtor to try to warm them up and give them special attention. Hopefully they'll perk up. That's not too bad for 0 degree weather.

Yeah, I wish they had the refund option during winter months instead of just re-ship or credit, because shipping only 10 chicks in this cold weather is not good!

Well they did put 13 standard males in. I think they are buff orpington. but 1 of those died. the bantams could have gotten trampled too. I am going to call and see if they could maybe reship in march

Go figure, I was sure those 2 chicks were dead. They weren't responive and their legs were in the air but after an hour in my incubator, they are both walking around like nothing ever happened.

I'm so glad!! I really do think it's just the cold that gets to them, and that if you can get them warmed in time they'll be okay

Wow! That is a very good rate. I am getting nervous about my order for next week and the cold weather. I don't know if I should wait or not. Only 4 DOA are very good odds and that could have been from something other than the cold. Not sure what to do, my kids will be devastated with DOA chicks but I know I have to expect a few no matter what.

I was super worried about the chicks being in 0 degree temperatures, and I was surprised that there were only 4 DOA. One looks like it got it's neck stuck in part of the box, and it's possible that they other 3 were smothered by the other chicks or were simply too weak.

Right now the chicks are going nuts over the grogel. They absolutely love it!

What breed(s) did you get? I am getting bantams so they are even smaller. I'm just so nervous about the cold but Ideal let me change this week's arrival to next week at least. It was below 0 today so it wouldn't have been good at all. I think next week is heading up into the low 30s.
