Chicken Math

My husband is the same as me: we walk in the local feed store (we have an actual grain mill operation here, very cool) and if anything is chirping or peeping we're looking at it and counting. Always buying in 2's x the original number, minus what we really don't need, plus a few extra just in case! Needed a dozen, ended up with 28 :)

Oh I wish I could get away with the double it up. Nice.
 
Well, 28 really is too many birds but we practice culling (for soup in the freezer). So we're down to, let's see....yeah 28.
My chicken raising has only gotten me to gullible straight run buys, rare feed store buys, and recently mail order buy. I don't have an incubator, but it's in my mind. Raising meat birds, mmmm probably couldn't bring myself to that. I definitely respect people who can.
