There are several posts from my early days on BYC where I SWORE up and down I'd only have the 4 I started with.

Well, my BO went broody, and I didn't have the heart to let her set all those long, long hours without something coming of it. So I got her a chick to adopt. So 4+1=5.

But silkies are soooooo cute! All these pics on BYC.... I just have to have one. So I ordered two. Can't just get one, right? But if there are only 2 bantam and 5 standards, they'd be way outnumbered. Better get 3. Husband said I could only get 2, but I will just tell him the hatchery sent an extra. So 5+2+1=8.

But I have so much room for another coop and so many breeds I don't have: Orloff, d'Uccle, Wyandotte, Sussex, Legbar, Japanese Bantam, Ayam Cemani....

So much for only having 4!

I sent her for 2 silkies, that turned into 3 before she left work. Got to my house she had 5!! Lost one, sent her with 5 yr old sister to pick out a special chick to replace, that turned into 3!!!! She is not allowed to bring me chicks anymore.

I was supposed to get 4 pullets... I got 4 OE pullets (3 were cockerels)... I got 2 RSL ready to lay to go with my OE. Then the farm got chicks and I got 3 (EE, Barred Rock, and Deleware) but a raven got 1 (EE)... Went back to the farm and got 2 BJG. I ordered two ducklings, but just got a call the other day that the hatching went bad so they'll have no ducklings this year, but they had chicks that were in need of homes. Just picked up a black Cochin, white Cochin, and a light Brahma this morning... I'm now at 10 chickens

Ravens will take chicks? I (knock on wood) have not seen Hawks, but lots of Ravens! My first 4-5 were impulse got 3 roosters out of 5! Was supposed to get 2 babies for me and 2 for my daughter, got to register and realized I picked 3 for me! How quick it adds up.

Yes! I left my chicks out while I ran to the store, as I was pulling in the raven was off with my chick. She was really small, like not your average small, I think she was a runt. That's why I got the Jersey Giants! That raven can come back and try to take those Id pay to see that! For little chicks, they stand up to my big hens. They're afraid of nothing and I can only imagine when they're fully grown.

I'm not sure... I know they're big, but I haven't had them before or even seen them in person. I'll take pics of the Brahmas and Jersey Giants together once they're full grown. We are building a new coop to accommodate all these beast chickens.

I'm ready to upgrade my diy coop and run lol. I have a light Brahma, my husband was panicking because he saw pictures on Google of them getting 3 feet tall!

How big is it? Or is it just a chick? The one I got today is only 4 weeks old.
