I think I clicked the right number. I started with 6 CX, 6 Pekin (Ducks), 6 HH "Rainbows", and added 6 Comets and 6 Dark Brahma within a week or two. About 6 months later, I added 6 SLW. The highest count, inclusive of ducks was 85 or 87, and my current count is in my Sig. I'm once again culling down, but soon expecting more bunnies. Also, I need to take another goat to freezer camp.

I started with about 5000.
I worked for my pocket money on my uncles farm from about ten years old.
He had battery chickens and 30 or so free rangers. I helped with the battery hens for a while but my heart wasn't in it and after some instructions and a talk with my parents my uncle gave me the free rangers to "look after".
Mainly my job was to get the eggs. None of the roosters 5 or 6 usually were people friendly. Most days I got the eggs. Other days I couldn't get past a rooster and that was that for the day.

After college I worked with someone I knew who kept 200 free rangers with a variable number of roosters.

Since then about 30 has been the average.

Now it's around 20.

When i started in 2011 i started with 6 and two ducks then a few weeks later got 6 more and another duck.... After then got a ton or orders from hatcheries throughout the years my biggest order was 56 from the cackle surprise and right now I have way more then i plan on keeping dont ask me a number i know i have 12 adults thats all I know

2 years ago, we only wanted 6 chickens🤣. Sadly, one of our first 6 chicks died before she was a week old😞. We decided to replace her and the minimum from the feed store was 3 chicks. So within a week, we went to 8 chickens🙂
The next year, we decided that we wanted more chickens and a male to help with protection and possibly breeding. We ordered 6 more chicks so that took us to 14😀. Before they arrived, Opal (bird in profile pic) was taken by a hawk😢. We were down to 13. The hatchery sent an extra male chick though, so back up to 14🙂.
But one chick didn't survive the night and then both males had to be culled - one for severe scissor beak and one had massive seizure😞 We were down to 11.
Last fall, I won 12 hatching eggs. The post office played kick ball or something with the box, but we hatched 3 chicks including one male😃 Back up to 14.
This month, one of my middle girls went broody. She is currently sitting on 6 eggs. By the end of the month, we may have 20 chickens😄🤞🤞🤞

Are you counting meat birds in this poll?
Started with 20 NHs and 9 layer mix from tsc. Ate the excess boys. Over wintered 15?ish and added more each year. Think Im at 14 layers, 10-15 young pullets, 5-10 cockerels and 2 flock Roos. And a batch of cx and Nh meaties.
