Chicken Math?

Let's see we started with 11 pullets from TSC-1 (killed by dog)=10 + 1 (RIR Roo)=11-1 (RIR mean roo)=10+2(Ameracaunas)=12
12+5(Ameracauna chicks)=17+1(BBR Chick)=18-3(Chicks died)=15+1(SLW Roo)=16+13(Bator)=29. Oh I'm not done yet now I have 6 BO/Aracauna mixes being given to me from neighbor(couldnt say no) Which makes 35. Wait theres more I also am being given 3 Batum hens and 1 Roo from mothers friend........38. I JUST CAN'T STOP. The bad thing well could be good DH is going right along with it, He loves them just as much as I do. Chicken math DOES NOT work!! But its great tryin to make it work!

Initially we wanted six, but I got the chicken bug and went for four more once the initial six were settled. Then, I got to thinking about next spring (which was last spring) and which breeds I would like. I got six birds, as I had intended, but then when the Barnevelders didn't come in at my favorite store, I went and got two Cuckoo Marans and a Silkie and was given Free Bird, an EE. We gave away two roosters, and one bird had to be helped out of her misery due to reproductive issues, so that meant we needed more. Right?

So, low and behold, one of the Marans goes broody, and all my husband can think of is breaking her broodiness, but she will have none of it. I got some free mixed eggs, and she is sitting. YAY!!!! More fuzzy butts! Everything makes sense so far? I can hardly wait for our little chickies! This is ninja chicken math. I am sure my husband does not yet see it coming.

BTW... I got an egg carton back from a customer the other day. On it was a sticky note that said,

"OICURMT"

Figure that one out.

I just won some egg auctions on eBay: Salmon Favarolles, FCBM, Partridge Penedensca, and Blue & Black Wyandotte. Plus I am bidding on some Barnevelder eggs.

LUCKILY I bid on the smaller batches, six or so eggs apiece.

Somebody needs to turn off eBay. At least the hatching eggs part!
