Chicken math

It sounds like me, too, lol.

My husband and I have been looking at plans for our next house. We have very different opinions on guest rooms. I hate paying for square footage that is only going to be used a couple times a year, and I don't want it so big and nice that people think they are in a hotel and never want to leave lol. He on the other hand wants two or three guest rooms so he can have more people over and I'm just like "Why? And where am I supposed to go while they are here?" My house is where I go to get away from people and I make a point of telling him he is very special because he is actually a person I can tolerate being around consistently (sometimes more than others

ETA Maybe I can build a barn with a loft bedroom / woman cave and just hang out with the chickens until the guests leave

This is SO me! We built a house and put the guest room right next to the dog's room. Technically it is a 3 bedroom house but one is a dedicated dog room with a doggie door to the back yard. The guest room gets to listen to the magnets on the dog door flap all night. No one stays long but it is the prettiest room in the house. LOL!

My house is only 800 sq foot. No guest room. My second bedroom is my walk in closet/laundry room. When people come to visit they can sleep in my living room on an air mattress or in my in-laws camper if it's warm enough. People don't stay long at my house the camper is right next to my coops and I have two roosers Lol although I would love a house that's a little bigger I want an exercise room/woman cave.

Well, we are building a tiny house with NO guest rooms.

If someone decides to visit they can sleep on the couch or a hotel. Ha!! I can't wait. I'd rather be outside with the chickens and other farm critters so tiny works much better. Less to clean.

I hear you on that. The other thing my husband talks about is really high ceilings with shelves for his duck decoys and those beams that go across and all that and I'm like "Oh, so you're saying your going to get up there and clean all that and a ceiling fan that's 13+ feet in the air?" Which of course he isn't! It'll happen like magic, just like his laundry.

A huge barn, garage and lots of chicken coops is a MUCH better use of space.

I love this thread so I had to jump in when I saw the title. I experienced chicken math even before I knew what it was. Went to Orschlen to by our first baby chicks, before doing all the reading on here about hatcheries and different breeds. We planned to get 4, well at Orschlen the minimum is 6, so naturally we walked out with 7 lol.

We just put our 5 week olds in the coop last night and my husband came home today with 4 more to put in our now empty brooder.... or so it was... He's worse than me! LOL! I love it though! 11 total now

My last group of chicks arrived at the feed store today! My 10 EE pullets arrived, and I'll be picking them up tomorrow afternoon. This is my final PLUS to my previous groups of 4 RIR's, 3 BLS, 3 BO's, 4 BR, and 1 Red Cross. I also still have 6 eggs in the incubator and we are on day 11. So, that will be my final post on chicken math in about 10 days - to add how many have hatched! If they all do, that will give me 31 new chicks this year.
