Came home today with 2 Crested Black Polish and a California White, I knew it! those big tubs in feed store carries "chick drugs" for my fuzzy math brain. I got 4 generations of chicks this spring just in matters of weeks.

TOTAL CHICKS = 13+3+8+3
TOTAL LAYERS = 6+10+10+4
GRAND TOTAL =X

Was at TSC this afternoon picking up feed. We just bottomed the 20lb bag, so I opted for the 50lb bag this time. Chicks were "Buy 6, get 2 FREE !!" I sent her a text describing the sale.

Her response - "NOOOOOO!!!!"

I got 8 free bearded silkie chicks a little over a week ago... I had sold the store my partridge cochin roo so the chicks and 2 runner ducklings were free..... at least my fiancé is ok with it lol

I got told the same thing last weekend by my hubby and bestfriend I wanted to pout oh wait I kinda did lol but I deff don't need anymore right now. I have 10 5-6 wk old chicks in the house getting ready to move them out this weekend though just need to do some coop modifications first. Kinda bummed that more than half look to be roos though.

So you might have 5 males which are likely to go in the freezer. So you'll need to replace them. TSC requires that you buy at least six at a time, and you can get two FREE. If you're getting straight run, you'll want to buy 10 to make sure you replace the five former roos with hens, and if you bump to 12, you'll get four FREE chicks.

Chicken math dictates this is a "net zero" scenario.

I love the way you think! If I knew I could avoid a huge argument I would have bought them. All the extra roos will deff be going to freezer camp even though they're bantams. I also have an egg issue. My girls are laying more eggs than I can sell. If I can't start selling I'll have to down size my flocks. I'm having a hard time competing with .88 cents a dozen at the grocery store Ugh!

I'm selling mine for $3 no matter what they go for @the store just because...they're better
