This simply will not do.
Have you looked into the Cackle Hatchery Surprise? I think you need a couple of those.

DH was talking about the new coop that has to be built this year........old one is a repurposed lean to building and it's leaning more than it should...

Anyways, the sizes he was naming off is no where close to where I want it to be. We have 3 acres. At least an acre of it is not being utilized for anything. That is a perfect place for my chickens to take over.

I have to wait a few days to give him my suggestions. You know, somehow make him think it was his idea

Love chicken math started out with 10 (7 free straight run with chick starter), then I picked up three more two buff wydanotte and a lonely chochin cockerel who was their hatch mate. (Got him for a couple bucks). Decided I wanted some pullets so got 4 more sexed pullets from feed store 2 weeks later. At 5 & 3 weeks old they went through a lot of chick starter so I picked up some more along with 7 more free straight run chicks. Now we are up 24 chicks, only 5 cockerls from the original 17, other 7 are still young to determine.

Oh how I hear you! Only wanted six, got those. Went back in the following week..ooooh they have EE's and Marans..chocolate eggs and blue green? Yes, please! I'll take one of each. Up to eight. Then I hear about these pink eggs..what sort of delightful creature lays pink eggs? Salmon faverolle? On the hunt now

and ooohhh are those lavender orpingtons? Sooo pretty....
Hello, my name is Shannon and I'm a crazy chicken lady in 3 short weeks.

Mostly I ordered them for a colorful egg basket, but I may use the EEs and Marans to try and make some olive eggers. My husband requested the Chenteclers, we've had that breed before and he really enjoyed them. I'm hoping they throw a few packing peanuts I the box too. Mine are coming from Ideal, can't wait!

Yeah, I think our family will never take vacation ever, Since we have all this wonderful creatures that lays eggs everyday. It's hard to find chicken sitters that understand every single one of their likes and needs and will protect them from our own furry home companions. Making sure they're all tucked in at night and no one being bullied out of their roost.

Chicken math? Is that includes loss numbers of hours of sleep? Does that includes hours lost that I should be spending time online or more time with my toys and gadgets? Or the lost time with friends that has totally different interest? Sports, news, religion, politics, technology & health ? Or should I be making new friends and hang around with them though they don't know how to count, multiply nor understand profit and loss? Just saying, I rather be with my chicken & friends with chicken math problem, I guess than traveling, seeing the world. This is what chicken math did to me and am barely 30.

Thank goodness I have a wonderful pet sitter with chickens of her own, plus she keeps the eggs she collects. So I can take vacation, plus she feeds the other critters. Each critter as their own place big dogs seperate from tiny dogs. Cats go wherever. Rabbits and turtle, and fish tanks. Plus she babysits my kids. I don't know what I will do if she ever has kids of her own. And I got another friend hooked on chicken math, she just came home with 5 chicks.
