Chicken math

I'm moving to California so she can watch my chickens, rabbits, dogs, & kid

. LOL!! We only can take day trips. Not so many people are willing to take on the task of 106 chickens. Oh, and I candled all the eggs in incubator today. Threw out 8. Still have 34 in there. We'll see next week what my number goes to.

If you come to dead center (middle east/west & north/south)of California then she would be happy to, she always taking care off somebody's animals. Did you know cal teams actually planted a pine tree next to a plan tree on the 99 to symbolize the center of the state

Thank goodness I have a wonderful pet sitter with chickens of her own, plus she keeps the eggs she collects. So I can take vacation, plus she feeds the other critters. Each critter as their own place big dogs seperate from tiny dogs. Cats go wherever. Rabbits and turtle, and fish tanks. Plus she babysits my kids. I don't know what I will do if she ever has kids of her own. And I got another friend hooked on chicken math, she just came home with 5 chicks.

Want to tell her to move to Ohio?

most our friends have no chicken(we were the accidental/impulse owner) yet they want our fresh eggs, sells them for $3-3.50/doz unwashed.

I only get $2.50 dozen here. And I do wash mine and they are large and pretty

. I'd love to break even with the cost of feed /straw etc.

Chickens...hmmm...need them, not just want them, and I know the difference between need and want. These chickens will provide my family eggs.got a few,(every time we went to TS we got a few)my husband thought I had lost my mind.he told the girl at Tractor Supply "do NOT sell her anymore chicks". Then we went to visit my son in Hinesville and their TS had white leghorns

. My husband wanted a dozen!!! I figured,if he got a dozen then he must be ok with me getting more. So the next time I went to the local feed store (a mile away)I got a few Ameracanas! But they will lay blue eggs!! And now we both are into the rare breeds...we get every color egg of the chicken rainbow! I HAVE found the pot of gold (chick style)

Right now my 10 layers pays their coop rent of $37.00/month plus our free eggs after the cost of feeds and pine shavings/straw/sand are deducted. I thought were decent, they'd been laying consistent since September.
Now back to chicken math (I spent a lot $$$$ on their coop & run) and I have 14 free loaders in my garage won't be laying till July/August.

My freeloaders are in spare bedroom and laundry room

I put a shipped dozen in the incubator last night. Since I was undecided about putting a few of them under my broody I just took a couple of recently laid cream legbar eggs and slipped them under the broody( don't tell my husband). We need more blue egg layers.
