Chicken math

I put a shipped dozen in the incubator last night. Since I was undecided about putting a few of them under my broody I just took a couple of recently laid cream legbar eggs and slipped them under the broody( don't tell my husband). We need more blue egg layers.
I split a hatch of a friend's EE eggs for more color. I have 73 in the yard now, 20 hit the brooder Tuesday night, and I set 28 WCBP last night. Chicken math goes nuts once you go from addition to multiplication

Tell the truth..... You are using exponents aren't you.
Yes, ten to the power of two makes it sound much better. I need more chickens

Hello, my name is Babs and I have 45 chickens. I only have an actual need for about 4. My household only has 3 people in it and one of them will not eat eggs.
Yes I have to grudgingly agree with my DH that subtraction is in the future for me.

I went into my feed store only wanting two EEs but came out with Australorps, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Partridge Rock, and EEs. Then about a month later I went back to get some feed and I came back with a Salmon Faverolle and a Barnvelder. THEN about a week later I had to pick up some shavings and pig feed but came out with an unknown bantam breed! The next day, I went to my OTHER local feed store and came back with Sebrights, and a Turken. Sadly, all of the Sebrights died so yesterday I picked up two Sebrights, 2 Light Brahmas (one passed away during the night), and a cochin bantam. But I also came home yesterday with 2 DUCKS (1 Welsh Harlequin and 1 Blue Swedish) that wasn't supposed to happen! On the 29th I'm going to be picking up some Polish and Ginger Old English chicks. I am officially a chicken hoarder!!

I just got my first chicks this week. I wanted 3 because the coop I was given is TINY! (I swear the actual coop part has maybe 4 square feet total! supposed to be for 2-4 chickens... Maybe bantams but no way big enough for 4 full sized birds!) Picked up 2 buff Orphingtons and 1 black australorp... one chick died so I wanted to replace it... of course, there's always the chance that one will end up a roo, so I suppose I should get two, just in case, right?... now we have 4 chicks and I have no idea how they'll all fit in the coop. Of course, I'm also looking around and saying "i'd like some of those, and some of those..."

Planning to build a 8x8 run for them as soon as I finish shoring up the coop. Then I'll get started on building a bigger coop! I figure the smaller one will work at least for a few months so long as they have a nice big run to play in all day!

Yay/boo chicken math! I suspect next year my flock is gonna expand exponentially once I get a decent-sized coop built and figure out where I'm gonna put it! I wish our pasture wasn't a swamp most of the year!

The chicken math strikes again! I ordered 8 Buff Orfingtons from my local feed store and 1 didnt make it. I cant have an odd number so I bought 4 americaunas and 3 black anconas. Lost one of the americaunas so of course I had to buy 2 RIR and 3 golden sex links. Then the feed store got in some cookoo Marin's. Off the chart cuteness factor!!! Unfortunately my husband said "you can not get any more chickens"! So I ended up trading 3 Buffs for 3 Cookoo Marin's with my neighbor. Now I'm at an uneven number again so either I buy 1 more chick or 3. Do you think he'll notice? I think I need to stay away from the feed store!
