I understand the compulsion. I am having a really hard time resisting the duckies. I had Cayuga before and they are a pretty bird with a nice disposition.

Hubby told me to do whatever I want........ is that a green light I just got??????

Makes me wonder what he is planning to get.

LOL - sounds like you and your husband have the same sort of system I do with mine. Just the other day he was looking at something (can't even remember what now) and I made comment about "Just remember the chicken exchange rate" - he knows that anything he comes to me wanting I'm going to ask how many chickens it's worth to him

So I picked up some Jersey Giants today. Came home with a 1 year old pair, 3 5 week olds, 3 3 week olds, 5 5 day olds and a dozen hatching eggs plus a bonusof a 10 week old Plymouth Barred Rock pullet.

I like Jersey Giants. I was wondering if the big JG roo would be more of a deterrent to hawks and owls.

I'd love to get some JGs, but I'm afraid I couldn't afford to feed them. I'm assuming they'd eat a lot more.

I hope they are good foragers. I free range almost all of my birds during thr day.
