Because only y'all will understand, I'm sharing here...

Those milestones with our flocks are always so exciting and rewarding. My 6 pullets were 18 weeks a couple of days ago, so I am watching their behavior, trying to pick up on clues. Yesterday, I went out to check on everyone, and the littles (not so little now) were eating oyster shell. Some kind of picking at it, some chowing down. They went from not even noticing it to "what is the wonderful delicacy" overnight. No one is squatting yet, but I hope that is soon!

That is an exciting milestone! I'm guessing someone will start laying within the next month. Of course, I always look forward to "the squat", if only because it's easier to catch them for health checks. :p

Eggs are on their way!

I have had chickens for decades and it is ridiculous how exciting new eggs in the spring are...yesterday I had four, so pleased, and still smiling as I served them for breakfast today! Crazy chicken lady here, and I understand!

I'll bet! Four is nice.

Breakfast with new eggs again is a wonderful way to celebrate!

I have been watching for the squat. Every morning I am testing them by standing over them to pet them. lol
