chicken mold on cheek?

hello,
one of my chickens has white spots on her cheeks... it isnt normal for my chickens and it is starting to spread to another one of them. It looks like a type of fungus. Any help would be appriciated. i am sorry for the lack of detail, i have no clue what to say about it. if it would help i will post a pic if you need it.

Could you post a photo? Sometimes chicken's combs and/or face get dry, creating a flaky look, so that is one possibility. Favus, which is a fungal infection, is another.

That's her earlobe, and it does look like the start of a fungal infection. One of my girls recently had a similar thing on both earlobes.

I used an antifungal cream that my doctor had prescribed for something long-forgotten, and it's just about cleared up the stuff on my girl's earlobes. My cream is called 'Mycoster' (I live in France, so I don't know if it has the same name elsewhere in the world), and contains 'ciclopirox olamine' (whatever that is) according to the label.

I may just have got lucky with matching the infection and the treatment, or it may be that any general antifungal cream will do the trick - I'm not a vet or doctor, so I really have no idea. Since I wasn't certain how the cream would affect her, I applied a very small amount to the worst area and watched her carefully for 24 hours. Once I was certain that she wasn't getting a bad reaction I applied it all over.

My girl's infection was quite advanced, and took a while to clear up (she also had an ear infection that had caused a massive swelling, and that I had to treat first), but yours looks like you've caught it early, so it shouldn't take too long to treat. Good luck!

heres an update... it is favus they are dhowing all symptoms now but i got some anti fingal cream and it is slowly getting better

Yep, one of mine got the same thing on her comb a few weeks back and I treated by rubbing athletes foot cream on her comb twice a day. Cleared up after about 4 days, and then I got side tracked and lazy and didn't continue. Now it's coming back, so I have to start again.... moral of the story- once she looks better, keep up the treatments for a bit to make sure it's really gone.

I also treated my other girls once a day as a preventative- wasn't sure if they were getting it or I was just seeing white fungus everywhere LOL

Hi and welcome. Can you describe what you are seeing or, better still, take and post a photo or two of the affected areas? Without being sure of just what you are dealing with it is hard to offer good advice on addressing it.

for anyone still interested, i found a 'cure'. Take listerine and mix it with vaseline. then put that on the faus and it should clear up within a day or three. put it on twice a day. if you want to know more details pm me. i have used it for humans aswell, dogs and ofcourse chickens
