Chicken "mutt" club!!!

We had our first ameraucana egg hatch that was crossed with silkie. Before, they were silkie crossed with ameraucana! It was adorable, shoukdve taken a picture. But it was a roo. I know that we get mutts sometimes, but they are always roos! Next time ill post a pic.

Im so tempted to try crossing my black cochin with our silkies! Or the other way around, how did ebony happen? Silkie x cochin or cochin x silkie? Hes adorbs

Two prettiest birds in our flock .
Daddy is a BCM/Silkie/Ameraucana - Momma is Hatchery Black Australorp (I think?)
Great Layers and the top one is right now hatching her first mutt brood at 8 months old!

Here's my chicks. No idea as to the breed. They are a mash up of various breeds that my folks and their neighbors have had end up in their backyard. Somewhere along the line, some game hen got into the mix too.

Up shot of the funky breeding is they are great foragers and produce an egg a day. My Mom has at least 6 nests that she has to visit daily to keep up with her free ranging birds. She knew I was wanting chickens and this Momma had 6 chicks that got stuck in a dry goose pond so the survivors were easy to catch. Momma and two of the chicks are black but the one in the fore ground started out a light tan brindle and she's getting more red to her. Who am I to look a gift hen in the beak...

I love this pic of my TSC mixed pullet and my daughter.
