Chicken "mutt" club!!!

Pics
I am going to have a chance to raise championship mutts and want to have the proper choice of colors. this summer I will be raising Black Australorp, White Jersey Giant, Silver Penciled Wyandotte, Buckeye, Buff Orpington, and Buff Brahma. Which Breed should I use for the Roo for my first "project".

Hmm.. lets see.. first choice would be: Black Australorp x Silver Penciled Wyandottes = huge fluffy black and white spotted/penciled chickens....

Next Choice.. Buckeye x Buff (either) for the browns and reds....

What? No Blue? Well - you could see if you have dominant white or recessive white and see what is hiding under those White Jersey Giants.. cross them with something black..

Oh, and PICTURES PLEASE!

Just a couple pics of the 11 day old mixes I hatched

Love black/white chick in top picture on the right - looks like it is ducking! Really clean black/white. My luck it would be a rooster...

And the look from NNx on the right in the second picture is adorable. Interesting markings on the head of the L/H chick too.

I like this group of pictures better than the ones on the EE thread.. shows the NN part more.

Thanks for sharing!

Here is an older pic of my half BO half RIR boy. He has to be one of the best roos I have ever heard of!!!

Him at 6 months. He is currently 11 months.

Then my hens. All three are Easter Eggers.

A little bald from mating.

So what if you can't show "mutts" at most poultry shows; to me, it's what's inside that counts!!!

Your welcome, I put all the pic on the Generation next thread, but tried to match the EE pics w/ the EE thread and the NN pics w/ the NN thread.

I am intrigued by some of the black and whites too and some of the other coloring one has black feathers/fluff on it's body but white muff and beard, I am definately excited to see the feather color pattern on many of them.

I agree - its those blue/green eggs hiding inside that they give us almost every day that makes them special. Combine that with being friendly and pretty you have a winner! No need to take them anywhere!

I like the black beard on the second hen picture - makes her look interesting!

Here are a few pics of my newly hatched mutts. I will try and let you know the roo and hen combinations to the best of my ability. So if you ever wanted to know what some chicks may look like from these combinations, Then here you go. I just hatched 17 of these in the incubator. They hatched Sunday.

white leghorn roo and California white hen

buff orpington roo and Buff cochin

white leghorn roo and Buff cochin

buff orpington roo and barred rock, I think, not to sure about the roo.

They sure are cuties. I especially like the darker ones with the fuzzy feet. They are adorable.
