Chicken Names share their names here

Pics
Last year my mom got into chickens. We had just a few about 2 years old and no rooster. She ended up with 3 roosters that didn't get along (imagine that)! She gave us one named Mayo after her hubbys friend. The hubby has several good ol boys who all love their drink and have all been friends forever. So when I started acquiring roosters I started using these old foggies nicknames Surprisingly enough they worked perfectly!!! Mayo (random huge white rooster)
RedRoot (big Rhode Island Red)
And Chief Superfly, we just call him Superfly (lavender ameraucana)

Yes these are the nicknames of real people and I can't get over how well it suits my boys!

**no idea what Mayo is but he's a great rooster!! Here's a pic of him

What a handsome rooster he is! Great names all! I'm still so amazed at the rooster flocks I've been reading about

We have 8 new chicks, our first ones. 5 of them have names.
Adele is an Australorp. She reminds me of an Adelie penguin, but Adelie isn't near as cute as Adele.

Coco is also an Australorp. My 7 year old son named her.

Reese's is an Easter Egger. She is brown with some white-ish stripes on her back.

Tootsie is also an Easter Egger. She is dark brown.

Noodle is a Barred Rock. She was named by my 4 year old son.

We have one more Easter Egger who will get another candy name. There are also two more Barred Rocks. No idea for their names.

And Gretchen (Weiners) , my Mean Girl EE. She's a bully that nobody else wants to be around, but she acts like everybody loves her and wants her company.

I thought your mean girl was an owl at first look! She does have a stinky eye that tells me I couldn't turn my back on her, lol

Thank u! I am amazed too by those but I don't have the bachelor pad thing. My boys have their own girls all separated by breed but Mayo gets my original hens (leghorns) and rescues: Floggy (brahma) and Big Mama (buff orp). Here's Big Mama and her keeper :)

Shadow, blue Olive Egger, is the constant friend and protector of Lilla. A cross who turned out to be Bantam. Lilla isn't 2 lbs and her name translates to 'little'

My 6 Swedish Flowers are
Trouble, cockerel who is very curious.
Captain, as in Captain Hook. Cockerel who broke a toe young and its very hooked.
Gerald, formerly Gertrude. Decided at 13 weeks he didn't want to lay eggs.
C.C., pullet. Her center toes both curve inward. Shoes helped but I could get the curve completely out.
Cinnamon and Sugar, pullets. Based on color.

I also have a Wheaten Ameraucana who was the sweetest until I got chicks. She takes joy in chasing them to watch them run. She recently earned B*tch Pudding. A character from Robot Chicken.

I have Road Runner a small Brown Leghorn. She is very slim and streamlined. When she runs it reminds me of the road runner.

Missy and Big Red, Black Copper Marans
Blondie a lovely mixed bread girl.
Another Wheaten Ameraucana and Brown Leghorn that don't exactly have names. Nothing jumped out at me...maybe one day something will stick. LOL

First some how I lost my reply to you, I'm sorry.

I love the names and reasons! Sometimes I think your way is best . Names as fluid as the flock. I mean it's not like our dogs that come running when they hear their name?

If you've managed to get yours to do that you'll have to PM how! I only have the two and they're different and I still keep it all straight.

Your flick sounds like it's a labor of love for you!

The singing chickens born in early April:
*KD, a Banty, and the first to lay
*Aretha and Janis, sold as Black Arcaunas, probably EEs,
and 4 Buff Orps:
*Dolly, the biggest,
*Olivia, the diva/special needs chicken,
*Iris and Patsy. Patsy always goes first and has been laying for over a week.

Neither KD nor Patsy have been using the boxes, this has to change. I wouldn't be surprised to find other nests tucked away in tall grasses as I clean up around the place this weekend.

Did you ever find where hens hid their eggs?
