The name was on a plaque over her nest. If I remember correctly, the other hens made fun of Miss Prissy and laughed at her. Golden Laced Wyandottes are beautiful birds, and since I had a beautiful but airheaded Quaker grandmother named Clara who sat around, looking prim and proper, much like an old hen, I thought the name quite suitable.
