Lessee, Carl was named Carly when I thought he was a pullet, sort of named for my sister Carlanne who died on Oct 25th.

My elderly dachshund killed three pullets over a period of several weeks: Rhoda the RIR, Hillary the bossy EE, and Sarah the Brown Leghorn.

I named what I thought was a Plymouth Barred Rock "Rebecca" because it sounded fairly New England-ish, but she turned out to be a partridge colored EE.

Buffy the Vampire Slaying Chicken is a Buff Orpington.

Matilda is the Black Australorp (think "Waltzing Matilda" and Australia).

Lacey is the Silver Laced Wyandotte.

Bernadette is the Cuckoo Marans and the entire story behind her name is too convoluted to tell. Suffice to say I once had a friend named Bernadette who was.... well.. cuckoo!

And Greta is the Black Sex- Link, named thus because I thought of Greta Garbo when I thought of someone sexy.

Only half of my girls have names

The General(aka General Tso) - largest Austrolorp we thought was a male. She is and was still the boss and "mother hen" of the bunch.
Duck's Girlfriend - Austrolorp with most green coloring the male duck bonded with...
Foghorn - White Amberlink we thought was a male until we watched it lay an egg with our own eyes.
Ringneck - Amberlink with white feathers in ring around it's neck
Big Red - Amberlink w/Even red coloring
Crazy Chicken - Amberlink. Laid very first egg. Came from the sounds she made and would disappear under a downed tree. 5 days later we discovered her nest.
Gretta - Wyandotte

Almost forgot the duck. I named him Quacker Jack because he's silly. His mate was named Helen after hubs' grandparents Jack and Helen. A predator took her over the summer.

All my girls have names, I also have a rule for our family - we don't eat anyone who has a name. This is my solution to the questions about whether or not we're going to eat our chickens. "Nope, we don't eat anyone who has a name!"

Chicken little is a Barred Rock
Foghorn is a white Leghorn (even though ours is a hen and Foghorn Leghorn was a boy)
Hawkface is our EE
Little Golden Hen and Henzilla are Golden Seabrights (bantams)
and Mabel and Penny are Partridge Rocks

Slash- D'uccle Roo
Gladys - RIR hen who had no tail feathers... but now looks like the other 2
Speck- EE roo runt, he was just a speck of a chicken, but now is almost the same size...
Lucy- EE pullet with a bright orange head and eyeliner
Ricky - a red and black EE roo (because you can't have a Lucy without a Ricky)
Chickie Dude - one of 22 other EE, Red Sex link, or Leghorn pullets

I don't name them all. Just ones that stand out to me ,but there's...
Lucky- survived dog attack
Daisy- only other EE besides Lucky
Stinky Pete-mentally challenged orp/brahma roo
Haas aka Big Blue-blue Orp roo
Chickity-Doo-Da- daughter named her also survived dog attack she still has a limp when she runs (chicken not daughter)
Shook Shook and Toss Toss-again my daughter and her crazy chicken names
Nancy-white silkie she was named before I got her
Whitey-all my white rocks
Red-all my RIR
Last two are real imaginative, I know
