Thanks for all the great tips! I will definitely be using your guidance!

Welcome to BYC. With all those birds you sound like you’re a “hardened professional,” but I know you’ll still find this site very informative.
Thank you for sharing your critters with the children. I was once a kid who loved and had just about everything, except a snake. My parents wouldn’t have allowed that. Your sharing of the creatures, big and small, will create animal lovers and possible veterinarians in years to come.
We are glad to have you! :frow
Thank you. What you said touched my heart. Being a teacher, I certainly try not to force my students into the science field, but I would be beyond thrilled if I was able to help them realize a passion for animals or any branch of science. My oldest girl is already determined to be a scientist!

G’Day from down under Kelsey :frow Welcome and Congratulations!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
Do you have any Australorps? Semi-joking. What breeds do you favor down under?

Hi! So cute to see your baby perched on your shoulder like mine! Tell me a bit about your chicken life?
Lol my chicken life started with 6 and ended up with a billion birds
At the moment just the ones listed below on my signature but im sure after our second little is bord(mid march) we will add more and more......and more. The adding never ends(they call it chicken math on here)

Hey Kelsey

Our breed range is fairly similar to that in the US I believe; though some may have different names.

Personally, I have 5 x much loved bantams being a 5 year old bantam Cochin [or Pekin or Pekin Cochin depending on who you are talking to ;)], a 5 year old bantam Langshan, a 4 year old bantam Cochin, a 4 year old frizzle bantam Cochin and a 3 year old bantam Cochin / Silkie cross.

Kelsey, you fit right in here. The farm/homestead is an addiction. Today as we prepared my lunch for work tomorrow I found myself checking off the list. Egg Salad sandwich, ok the eggs are mine. The relish is mine. Ok, I got lazy and used store bought bread, miracle whip and mustard. The pickles are mine and the brownies are too. It's a wonderful thing to fill your lunch box with things you've grown.

I know you Bob, you could have baked the bread and made the mayo and the mustard! Knowing how to do for yourself is awesome.
