Chicken noise

Is there anyway to get some hens to be quiet because my chickens live in my backyard and our houses are pretty close and they are being incredibly noisy?

I don't think there is. But just think, that's a lot less annoying than a barking dog. And if you have them legally (or not, now that I think of it), just soften up any would-be complainers with some eggs

Is it just my chickens that make really loud noisy kinda screeching noises right after they lay an egg?I guess I will have to give the neighbors eggs

Nope, that is the egg song. They have lots of noises, and they vary among individuals, too. I have an EE that you'd swear was a goose if you weren't looking at her. I have others I rarely hear a gentle cluck out of.

Mine are really noisey until I let them out.

I've shh'd mine which has worked temporarily. I just count on other noises (kids, dogs, etc.) being loud enough to drown out my girls.
