Question #1
This evening I went into my coop and found one of my Orpingtons with her left nostril filled with new blood. It was just in her nose and hasn't ran down any further. I found it 45 minutes ago, and left the coop fifteen minutes ago. I believe she somehow got on the skin outside of her nostril, and it ran down to her nose.
I haven't seen any bleeding outside her nostril, so unless there is a separate cut inside her nose that caused the bleeding, I think that the blood is clotting successfully.
Also, given that she had a cut on her comb as well, I believe she got this in a fight with another hen. This had to have been between 3 and 5:45 PM EST, since I checked on her at 3 and she had no cuts, and 5:45 is when I noticed her nosebleed and comb bleed (clotted).
My first question is this: What do I do once the blood clots inside her nose? She only has one nostril clogged.
Question #2
I also have another question. When I first checked on her I thought the blood was already clotted the whole way through, and tried to scrape it out gently with a blunt toothpick and a pointed cotton swab (the kind that people use to clean their ears with). FYI - only the blood on the outside was solidifying. When I used the toothpick, it ran alongside the underside of the top part of her nostril. That nostril looked like it moved up a little bit, as if it wasn't connected to the side closer to her eye. I've done this before when other chickens got something stuck in their noses, and I've never seen that top piece move. I'm not very well informed on how the nostril connects with the rest of her head, and how close blood vessels run to it, etc. So...any helps on that?
Thanks, Slayden

The Green Circle outlines the cut next to her nostril, which was mentioned in Question #1.
The Blue Circle outlines the part of the nostril referenced in Question #2. (they're a bit hard to see)
